Wearing Glasses, Motorcycle Riding, Sun and Fun-filled Activities

Outdoors, the things you do are dictated by how much sun is around you. Working outside while wearing glasses, motorcycle riding, sun bathing are all dependent on the amount of sunlight in your vicinity. If you'll notice, all the activities in that list require the same thing of you: to wear the proper protective eyewear.

Standing (or lying down, as in the case of sun bathing) in direct sunlight for a prolonged period of time means you should have sunglasses that give the greatest priority to ultraviolet (UV) protection. This doesn't just mean glasses with the darkest tint, though it would help if glasses are colored black, brown or gray. The larger the lenses, the better. UV protection basically applies to glasses whose lenses are made of a material that does a good job of blocking and diffusing radiation before it hits your eyes. Photochromic lenses perform this function.

Motorcycle riding comes with its own requirements for sunglasses. Besides UV protection, sunglasses must also be scratchproof, as they are what protect your eyes from the wind, dust, small insects and other particles that whip against your face when you are on the road. Again, the larger the lenses, the better. The frame shouldn't get in the way of your field of vision. If it does, it could prove fatal at a dangerous turn! Sunglasses with wrap-around lenses, sometimes resembling visors, are excellent for maximizing visibility.

It's also important to wear glasses that reduce glare when you're driving. Direct sunlight could reflect off bright surfaces, getting into your eyes and blinding you temporarily. This is dangerous on so many levels. Iridium lenses diffuse glare and improve visibility. Consider investing in lenses that are anti-glare as well as scratchproof. Oh, and don't forget anti-fog! Biking, and even motorbiking, can be rather strenuous, and may require you to go through various environmental conditions. Anti-fog properties in sunglasses may not just make the riding experience more enjoyable, it may also just save your life!

Protective eyewear is necessary no matter what you choose to do outdoors. Working outside while wearing glasses, motorcycle riding, sun bathing, all require you to take better care of your eyes.
