Picking Out the Perfect Frames

If you want to make a bold and distinct statement of style, something that puts an exclamation point on the look you are trying to create, you can dot your point neatly by wearing sunglasses. The main function of sunglasses is to protect the eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays. But as a fashion accessory, a good pair of sunglasses can accentuate your features and your outfit quite nicely. Beware, however, because not all sunglasses are alike, and not all sunglasses can fit you and your style. It takes a little know-how to pull off a look capped by sunglasses with perfect frames.

It is all in the frames of your sunglasses, actually. The perfect frames should match the shape of your face. If you have an oval-shaped face, you can get away with any kind of frame for your sunglasses, as long as it is not too big or too small for your face. On the other hand, if your face is angular, you can soften the angles by wearing rounded frames. The opposite applies if your face is curvy; cornered frames balance out a rounded face.

Size also matters. If your face is small, you should stick with small frames for your sunglasses. If your face is long, larger frames will work for you.

Hair color should also be considered when picking sunglasses. Brunettes can get away with any color they want for the frames of their sunglasses. However, if you are a brunette with fair skin, you may want to steer clear of pastel colors. Blondes should go for frames with lighter tones, as black or any dark color can look too harsh and aging against a blonde's delicate skin tone. But if you are blonde and you insist on wearing dark frames, go for brown instead of black. On the other hand, if you are a redhead, your best bet for the color of your frames can be green, tortoise or brown.

Lastly, personal style counts most in picking out the perfect frames for you. Consider the clothes in your wardrobe if you are thinking of buying just one pair of sunglasses. Your shades should match your clothes after all.
